Meet a few of our wonderful dogs - stories by dogrobin
Peanut – Little miss Peanut, who I also called Peapod, was rather shy of every one and everything when she first arrived. I worked with her, gradually introducing her to more and more distractions. We spent many hours around a local shopping area, visiting with friendly people, to start with at quiet times of the day and gradually working up to the lunch time turn out from the local High School! Her new family spotted her picture on a poster in a local pet store. Thank you, Togs for Dogs! It was love at first sight and Peanut now has a forever home in Belmont.

Mango – This big brown love bug gives hugs on command, and often without too!! He is a leaner and a kisser. He was a little timid around new people and new places to start with, and he pulled like a steam train on the leash! He loves to run off leash, so much so that I felt concerned at first that he might not come back! It turned out after we worked on his off leash behavior that he learned to go out and come back in to check in, I called it “doing a fly by”. We worked on his socialization for about three to four hours a day for several weeks and he adapted to his new environment very quickly, so much so that he makes friends wherever he goes! With some leash training for two or three miles at a time every day for a few weeks he turned into the dog every home should have! Mango started 2008 off right with his new family in Orange, California where he romps in the yard daily with his ten and twelve year old human brothers.

Pippa - Little Pippa was found chained to her mother, who was chained to a tree and left to starve. Inspite of this background, she bonded very quickly to my daughter, Christine, and we worked her intensively on leash and off leash with a variety of other dogs, which she seemed to enjoy thoroughly. This lucky girl now loves everyone and has settled into her new home in Atherton with her rescued Old English Sheepdog brother, Charlie, and the rest of the family.
You or someone you know can give a wonderful dog a great home!
